WHAT: March Speaker Event & Annual General Meeting of the Kentville Historical Society
WHEN: Thursday, March 19th at 7pm
WHERE: The Former Cornwallis Inn Dining Room, Main Street Station, Kentville
DETAILS: Join us on Thursday, March 19th at 7PM for a brief Annual General Meeting of the Kentville Historical Society, followed by a talk with local writer and photographer, Steve Skafte!
He’ll be chatting about his adventures along abandoned roads, hiking forgotten highways, and exploring the crumbling history that our ancestors left behind.
Since 2007, he’s shared an uninterrupted daily journal on social media of his discoveries all over the province and has been widely featured in national print media, and on TV and radio.
And be sure to stick around, he’ll be signing copies of his currently available books following the talk!
As always, this event is open to anyone interested in attending. There is no admission fee, however, donations are gratefully accepted to go toward the Society’s operational costs.

WHAT: Heritage Day Open House!
WHEN: February 16th, 2026 from 1pm – 4pm
WHERE: The Kentville Heritage Centre at 66 Station Lane in Kentville
DETAILS: We’re opening our doors for Heritage Day! Join us for a Bicentennial celebration marking 200 years since Kentville was renamed from Horton’s Corner in honour of Edward, the Duke of Kent.
Drop in to enjoy refreshments and explore a new display highlighting this important moment in Kentville’s history.
It’s also a great chance to experience our interactive historical exhibits before we reopen for the season in May.

WHAT: January Speaker Event!

DETAILS: Our first Speaker Event of 2026 is here! Join us on Thursday, January 15 for an evening with local collector Kevin Wood, as he shares his lifelong fascination with old technology and the stories behind it.
Growing up in Kentville, Kevin began collecting antique tools as a teenager, sparking a deeper interest in the people who used them and how and why they were used. He will also bring a few antique pieces to share, offering a closer look at the tools and technology of the past!
This event is open to anyone interested in attending. There is no admission fee, however, donations are gratefully accepted to go toward the Society’s operational costs.
